“Today, virtually everything is online, which means we do not design merely for constructing a building, for a fancy limousine or for an eye-catching poster, we design for a better and harmonious living. Design will take it to a brand new level and add fuel to the industrial reform and social innovation.”
2009年12月26日到2010年1月10日，由湖南省工业设计创新平台、中国电信天翼社区、米兰理工大学以及湖南大学设计艺术学院联合举办的“ONLINE 2020”workshop在湖南省科技厅工业设计创新平台和湖南大学设计艺术学院展开。该workshop以“人工智能与产品设计”、“网络与服务设计”、“生态与可持续设计”作为关键词，根据中国的信息产业发展战略， 研究未来长沙市的城市设计、工业设计和信息设计等学科和行业的发展对人们未来生活的影响。

From 26th Dec, 2009 to 10th Jan, 2010, the Online 2020 Workshop took place in the Hunan Science and Technology Department and the School of Design of Hunan University. It was co-held by Hunan Innovation Platform for Industrial Design, China Telecom Surfing Club, Politecnico di Milano and the School of Design, Hunan University. The key words of this workshop are “AI and product design”, “internet and service design” and “ecology and sustainable design”. The students need to look into the future of Changsha City, the future of industrial design and the future of information design based on the development strategy of China’s information service industry. Besides, they also need to focus on the influence of all the above subjects will have to our human life.

“ONLINE 2020”邀请到了阵容强大的专家团队，包括设计艺术学院院长何人可教授、米兰理工大学Francesco Galli教授、意大利TVN高级编辑Barbara Pino女士、中国电信天翼社区专家冯伟、廖颖、周旋等，以及湖南大学设计艺术学院的其他6位专业老师。各位专家从数字媒体战略与网络服务模式、新技术发展与未来趋势、数字媒体与社会创新、中国电信网络服务策略、网络与青年文化等不同方面为online2020带来了丰富的知识输入。来自设计艺术学、建筑学、计算机科学的28名研究生和本科生参与了本次活动。Online2020还邀请到了来自广播影视艺术学院的黄燎、易贝儿两位专业演员的加盟。所有参与学生按照“个人需求”、“行业服务”以及“社会创新”三个不同主题组成了3个产品与服务设计小组。
Online 2020 Workshop had a very strong panel of experts: dean of the School of Design, Prof. He Renke; Prof. Francesco Gali from Politecnico di Milano; senior editor Miss Barbara Pino from TVN Italy; Feng Wei, Liao Ying and Zhou Xuan from China Telecom Surfing Club; and six teachers from the School of Design. Each expert gave a speech on various topics, such as: digital media strategy and service model, the development and trends of new technology, digital media and social innovation, the service strategy of China Telecom network, internet and youthology etc. 28 graduate students and undergraduate students took part in this workshop, they are from the School of Design, the School of Architecture and the School of Computer Science. Huang Liao and Yi Beier from the College of Broadcasting, Film and Television Arts of Hunan University were invited as actors to assist shooting. All students were divided into three groups according to three subjects: personal needs, services of industries and social innovation.
经过16天的艰苦努力，各小组都取得了丰富的创新成果。2010年1月10日，“ONLINE 2020”成果发布会在设计艺术学院传播实验室401举行。未来基于个人情绪的音乐服务、基于情境的搜索和学习方式、自动驾驶与交互体验结合的交通解决方案、用户参与式的广电服务模式、可持续绿色工作平台……在短短半个月时间内，同学们运用整合设计创新的方法，以产品、交互与影像的方式构建了一个绚丽动人的未来“社会模型”。发布会特邀嘉宾信息专家姜峰说到：“我在这里接受到了很多平时难以接触到的创新概念，其中很多创新想法对移动未来运营思路很有启发”。
After 16 days of hard work, all three groups achieved great results. On the 10th Jan, 2010, the final presentation was held in Room 401 of comdesignlab. Some works are about music service based on personal emotions, some are about new way of searching and studying based on contexts, traffic service model that involves driverless car and interactive user experience, a new service model for broadcasting system that allows the participation of audiences, sustainable green work platform etc. Within half a month, students made full use of innovative design methods, constructed a beautiful model of the future society together by designing new products, new ways of interaction and videos. Mr. Jiang Feng, an information expert said this after the presentation, “I met some of the best innovative concepts that I rarely got a chance to know in my daily life, quite a few of them are very useful to the future development of China Mobile.”
通过此次workshop，很多同学都开始明白：未来究竟会怎样，关键在于我们现在正在做什么和如何想象。
Thanks to this workshop, many students began to know that the shape of the future all depends on what we are doing now and what we have imagined it to be.
