Summary

The technology of mobile information has developed gradually in Chinese rural area. Rural users’ needs for mobile information products become more and more obvious in recent years. Our research aims at discovering the design opportunities for rural information services. In the process, we used methods of Affinity diagramming, persona image scale and experience map to do a data analysis of rural users. As a result, rural users are divided into three distinct groups:1.No money, but want to spend; 2. Have Money, But Choose Not To spend; 3.Have money and dare to spend it, the differences among the three groups in individual economic capability and consumption concept result in users’ variant acceptance and usage of information products. This paper summarizes the demands for mobile information service separately and puts forward insights in five years. Based on the research findings, we finally build two platforms, providing local rural users with information services.
